Set Tests using the E-Class Editor

see also:

The E-Class system allows you to set assessments for candidates that are automatically marked. You can then replay, analyse, sort and export their results. The five steps required to administer an assessment are listed below:

  1. Create an E-Class and give it a name
  2. Import tests created by yourself or by others (if the test status is shared).
  3. Select the test options to dictate how the assessment is taken by the candidates. See Assessment Settings
  4. Add candidates manually or provide the candidates with an E-Class ID and Access Code so they can join the class themselves.
  5. Open the mark book for each assessment when the candidates have finished and analyse the results. See Mark Book

Test Properties

E-Class assessments have properties which can be set to dictate how the assessment is administered. By using combinations of test properties, it is possible to set examinations, curriculum tests, homework, quizzes and revision exercises.

  1. Time Limit If this check box is ticked, the candidate must finish the test in the allotted time. If the candidate has not finished when the time limit is reached, the assessment is marked anyway.

  2. Instant Results If this check box is ticked, the candidates taking the test will receive their marks when they finish the test (they will not by able review their answers unless Test Review is enabled - see below).

  3. Test Review If this check box is ticked, the candidates will be able to browse through the questions, comparing their answers with the correct answers and reading explanations. Reviews can be accessed either immediately after completing the test or by selecting 'Completed Tests' from the E-Class Menu. The E-Class Administrator can enable Test Review anytime either before or after candidates have completed the test.

  4. Monitor Results If this check box is ticked, the candidates' results, answers and time taken will be saved. The data can then be analysed and reviewed later by the E-Class Administrator. When this option is set, the candidate can only take the test once. All tests imported into E-Classes have the 'Monitor Results' property enabled by default.

  5. Available From (server time and date) If this check box is ticked, the test will not be available until the set time and date.

  6. Available Until (server time and date) If this check box is ticked, the test will be unavailable after the set time and date. If a time limit is set, the latest time an assessment can be completed is this preset time plus the set time limit.
