Curriculum Online approves Test Nation26 February 2003 Test Nation has been approved by Curriculum Online. This means if you are a state funded school in the United Kingdom you can use your E-Learning credits (eCL's) to buy Test Nation.
What are E-Learning Credits?
E-Learning Credits form part of the DfES's Curriculum Online project, and represent a new source of funding for schools for the purchase of certified curriculum-based software and digital content (in England only).
£50m has already been allocated to schools for the current academic year through LEAs - £30m was distributed in the Autumn of 2002 via a ring-fenced Standards Fund grant (grant 618). A further £20m is available from April 2003.
This money is made available for schools to spend directly and is apportioned according to the size and type of school. For the 2002/03 academic year, primary schools should receive on average around £1000, whilst secondary schools will receive around £1800 on average. This money must be spent before the end of the current academic year.
At Bett 2003 the Secretary of State, Charles Clarke, announced an extension of the Curriculum On-line initiative promising a further £280 million to be distributed to schools over the next three years (on average £3600 per school, per year.).
Only software and digital content that has been specifically certified by Curriculum Online may be purchased with e-Learning Credits, and the certification programme is restricted to computer-based curriculum-aligned educational content (CD-ROMs and Web Sites etc). All certified products are listed within the DfES's Curriculum Online portal. You can also check whether products have been approved by checking the supplier's website to see if they have the registered Curriculum Online logo (as above).
